The Swearing In Court provided the setting for the signing of a new affiliation between the Worshipful Company of Founders and the Greater London Scout Region of The Scout Association.
Through the affiliation, London Scouts will have the opportunity to earn Livery Scout Badges, introducing young people to the trades and professions represented by the City’s Livery Companies and showing how those skills remain relevant today.
For the Founders, this provides a particularly valuable opportunity to introduce a new generation to metal casting and the modern foundry industry, alongside the history and craft on which the Company was founded. It also complements our wider work in education and industry, helping young people discover skills, trades and potential careers they may otherwise know little about.
As part of the affiliation, the Company will work in partnership with Redbridge Scout District, which was selected for the unusual distinction of having more church bells within its geographical boundaries than any other London Scout District, providing a fitting connection with the Founders and our historic association with bell founding.
We were delighted to welcome representatives from the Scouts to Founders’ Hall for the Swearing In Dinner following the signing, and look forward to developing the relationship in the years ahead.
