Company Dinner 2025
If you assiduously follow the reports of the various Founders sub committees you will know that one of our illustrious Stewards, Dr Hugh Milroy who sits on the Charity Committee, came up with an idea that the Founders should sponsor a nationwide competition within Cadet units to encourage greater awareness and excellence in STEM subjects.
This concept was further supported by the Education Committee and a pilot programme was conducted within Sea Cadet, Army Cadet and Air Training Corps units in Bedfordshire earlier this year with some really wonderful entries being submitted for adjudication. It was decided to award prizes to a cadet and to an adult instructor in all three service branches and for prizes to be awarded at the September Company Dinner.
So, on Thursday 11th September, Founders’ Hall witnessed a very good turnout of Liverymen, Freemen and guests to applaud the winners. The Company hosted representatives from the Ministry of Defence who facilitated the competition as well as His Majesty’s Representative in the county of Bedfordshire, Lord-Lieutenant Susan Lousada and her husband Simon Lousada.
The Lord-Lieutenant presented the prizes and posed for photographs with the winners. Later, she kindly responded on behalf of the guests to the Master’s toast and made an excellent speech praising the fore-sight of the Founders in coming up with the competition to get young people involved with the key STEM subjects.
All praise must go to the Clerk and his team at Founders Hall and to the caterers for yet another delicious meal served with efficiency and style. A wonderful evening with the Company operating at its very best.
